Born in Ordu, Türkiye, in 1998, Emirhan Bıçakcı began his art education at Ordu Fine Arts High School before graduating from the Department of Art Education (Painting) at Ondokuz Mayıs University. During his artistic development, he was invited to work in the studio of Prof. Dr. Devrim Erbil, an experience that became a significant milestone in the evolution of his artistic practice. Bıçakcı’s practice is grounded in the belief that every idea determines its own form. Rather than committing to a single subject, material, or discipline, he develops each body of work according to the conceptual needs of the idea itself. Figures, objects, space, and emptiness are not recurring motifs but vehicles through which thought becomes visible. His works create layered encounters that invite viewers to construct meaning through their own experiences rather than offering fixed interpretations. His works are included in institutional and private collections, including the Türkiye İş Bankası Art Collection, and have been exhibited in national and international exhibitions.

For me, art is about creating the conditions in which an idea or a feeling can exist. I never begin a work by choosing a material, medium, or method. Every idea determines its own form. As feeling changes, so does the work. For this reason, I do not believe that an artwork is ever truly complete. A work may leave the studio, enter other lives, and acquire new meanings, yet its essence continues to evolve alongside my own experience. Figure, object, space, or emptiness are never the starting point of my practice—they are its outcome. Each emerges only when a thought requires it. Rather than working within a fixed visual language, I allow every work to establish the language it needs. I do not seek to define what a viewer should feel. Every encounter with an artwork is personal, shaped by individual memory, experience, and time. My role is simply to create the conditions in which that encounter can take place. For me, art is not an ornament. It is a scar.
